About:

Saudi Critical Care Trials Group (SCCTG) has been established as a part of Saudi Critical Care Society to become a leading clinical trial collaboration in critical care at the local and international levels.

Vision:

To generate a high quality collaborative national and international, investigator-led research that are patient-centered.

Mission:

  • To facilitate multicenter trials in critical care across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • To build capacity in critical care research and to educate the next generation of Saudi researchers.

  • Saudi Critical Care session during Annual Conference.

Committee expectation and responsibilities:

  • To promote high quality, investigator-initiated research with the goals of improving clinical practice across disciplines.
  • To establish trust, respect, transparency, good communication, collaboration, and shared responsibility among researchers in critical care.

Membership of the committee:

All members of the SCCS are invited to participate in the SCCTG activities.


Meetings frequency and quorum:

Regular Monthly meeting every second Wednesday of the Month.

Yaseen Arabi, MD, FCCP, FCCM, ATSF

Chairman, Intensive Care Department, Medical Director, Respiratory Services, Professor, College of Medicine, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), King Abdulaziz Medical City Riyadh (KAMC-R), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Arabi obtained his Internal Medicine Training at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, USA and pulmonary and critical care training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI, USA.

He has been the Chief investigator/national principal investigator in several multicenter randomized controlled trials. He is involved in various MERS and COVID-19 research. He has more than 300 publications including articles in leading medical journals. He is currently a Section Editor for Intensive Care Medicine on the Editorial Boards of several journals.

He received multiple grants and awards including the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Award, the Ministry of Health Pioneer Research Award, the Distinguished Scientist Award from Almarai Award for Innovation, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Saudi Critical Care Society, and the Barry A. Shapiro Memorial Award for Excellence in Critical Care Management.
