Executive Council

About the Executive Council:

The Executive Council is responsible for organizing the operational frameworks and submitting development proposals and recommendations to improve Society's operations following the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) regulations and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's governing laws.

Executive Council Roles:

  • Updating the Society's vision, mission, and values in alignment with the Kingdom's vision 2030.
  • Reviewing and updating the Society's organizational restructure based on strategic and operational goals.
  • Activating the Society's department (chapters) based on the society's organizational structure and insuring the development of the training plans per department (Chapter).
  • Recommending the addition of new chapters to serve the vision and mission of the association.
  • Establishing the necessary policies for advertisement and marketing.
  • Establishing organizational frameworks for the society's website.
  • Establishing regulatory frameworks for the levels and benefits of memberships.
  • Submit proposals to conclude contracts and partnerships with the private sector and Sponsoring companies to support the Society's vision and operations based on the local regulating laws and the Saudi Commission of Health Specialties' regulations.
  • Reviewing and developing training plans for the year 2020.


Note: The work of the Executive Council in the above tasks shall be through consultation, discussion, and voting Among its members, and recommendations should be submitted through the Executive Council Director to the Board of Directors.


Executive Council Members:

The Executive Director of Saudi Critical Care Society and a Board Member:

Tariq Alayed, MD

Dr. Tareq Alayed is the Executive Director of the Saudi Critical Care Society and is a board member. He is also a pediatric intensivist and the Pediatric Critical Care Department Director at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Alayed is also the Deputy Director for the Saudi Commission for Health Specialty's council for the Critical Care fellowship training Program and the Previous Chairman of the Pediatric Chapter at Saudi Critical Care Society. Besides, he is an Assistant Consultant in the College of Medicine at Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Tareq completed the American Board of Pediatrics in 1998, the Saudi Board of Pediatrics in 1998, a Diploma in Child Health from Ireland in 1996, and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine from McGill University, Canada, in 2001.

Dr. Tareq Alayed has a particular interest in pediatric critical care Tele-Medicine and Health Education, where he led more than 30 pediatric critical care conferences and Courses locally and internationally, in addition to his interest in research. He published more than 15 studies in prestigious Scientific Journals.

Saudi Critical Care Society Board Member & Executive Council Member:

Wail Tashkandi, MD, FABS, FCCMC

Dr. Wail Tashkandi is the Board president for the Saudi General Surgery Society and is an Assistant Professor and a Consultant in General Surgery and Critical Care Medicine at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Wail is an advisor for the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, He is the Director of the critical care department at Fakeeh Care Group and the Saudi Surgical Journal editor-in-chief. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of Surgery in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

During his career, he held many leading positions in the education and healthcare sectors in Saudi Arabia. He completed the Arab board of Surgery and the Canadian Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.

Vice President of the Saudi Critical Care Society & Executive Council Member:

Hind Bafagih, MD

Dr. Hind Ali Bafaqih is a senior healthcare consultant with more than ten years of critical care and healthcare management experience.

Currently, Dr. Hind is the head of intensive care consultant and the Director of pediatric ICU in Military Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Besides her work, she is the Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and the Dubiety of the Critical Care society president.

During her career in critical care, she was involved in clinical and leadership research. She published more than 20 studies in Prestigious Science Journals.

Dr. Hind has a particular interest in quality and patient safety, and she is a member of many international and local regulatory bodies and societies.

Saudi Critical Care Society Chief Treasurer & Executive Council Member:

Faisal Al Suwaidan, MD

Dr. Faisal Al Suwaidan a senior consultant of neurology, critical care medicine, neurological & neurosurgical critical care at King Fahad Medical City, Second Health Cluster in Central Region, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Al Suwaidan is also the V.P. of the Saudi Neurology Society and the Chief Treasurer of the Saudi Critical Care Society.

Saudi Critical Care Society Board Member & Executive Council Member:

Mr. Anas Amro MSN, CNS, CPHM, F-ISQua

A senior specialist in critical care nursing and quality and patient safety with 20 years of multiple experiences in critical care, quality and patient safety, education, training, development, healthcare management, and others.

He is a certified trainer for multiple basic and advanced programs and training courses in critical care, quality & patient safety, management, etc.

He was involved as a speaker in multiple events and conferences and had many publications at national and international levels.

He is also an active member of local and international scientific, specialized, and professional societies and associations.
